Obituary for
Robert Calhoun
The passing of Robert “Bob” Forest Calhoun of Timmins, ON, occurred on October 20, 2017 at the Timmins and District Hospital. Born on July 3, 1951 in London, ON, he was the son of the late David Calhoun and late Winnifred Morrison.
For over 40 years, Bob was involved in the mining and exploration industry in New Brunswick and Ontario; he was an alumnus of the University of New Brunswick. Most recently he was employed with the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines. Bob was an active and dedicated member of the Timmins community, participating in the Porcupine Prospectors and Developers Association, Porcupine Miners’ Memorial, Discover Abitibi, and the Local Citizens Committee. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed joking with family and friends, and excelled at connecting with everyone around him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Patterson), son William Calhoun (Natalie Williams Calhoun) and grandson Lucas Calhoun of Charlottetown, PEI and daughter Melissa Calhoun (Tyler Lavergne) of Ottawa, ON. Bob is also survived by his brothers, Tom Calhoun (Leona) of Camrose, AB and Paul Calhoun (Mary) of Fredericton, NB, and stepsiblings Mavis Jones (Lance) of Burtts Corner, NB, David Morrison (Sharon) of Prince George, BC, and Murray Morrison (Valerie) of Grimsby, ON, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to Bob’s father and mother, he was predeceased by his stepfather Leslie Morrison and his beloved sister Patricia “Patsy” Calhoun.
Visitation will take place at the Bible Fellowship Assembly, 207 Lawrence Street, Porcupine on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 10am to 12pm. A funeral service will be held afterwards at 12pm; reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Interment of his cremated remains will be held at a later date in New Brunswick.
