A true friend
Mike and I first met when we were seventeen. We were both in different musical groups playing good prime analogue hits from the 60s - 70s. We merged and chemistry allowed us to form Four Way Street. Positive chemistry..every musical aspect from vocal harmonies, back-up and good honest humour on and off stage. Excersized our talents at hot spots in town where high school friends would enjoy our offering. Extremely undeniable was Mikes versatile vocals. Humperdink, Perry Como, Tony Bennett, Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Three Dog Night, Uriah Heep, Grand Funk, the list goes on. One of our most favourites of that era was Gino Vannelli. Mike was one of the most artistic male vocalists in Northern Ontario. We became inseparable, doing everything together. I was welcomed into the Guiho family and had their support. Had permission to ask his older sister for a date! And her and I share a certain love to this day. Being a friend to Mike was being a friend to all of them. Mike and I shared an inspiration for older vehicles...hence his pride and joy...the Chopt31. A 1931 fibreglass California Kid Ford 3 duces. A proud owner years later, I asked Mike if my new band could use his car as a backdrop for a photo shoot, Took me for a boot out to Spruce Needles...hit a bump and the passenger door popped open. Was time to share a good laugh! You wanna talk about an honest, sincere gentleman. MIKE. Husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend like no other. He was determined to marry Diane. Come with me Jack, I want to visit my sweetheart in Ottawa. So we went to see the love of his life, and the rest is history. We will all miss this fine specimen of a genuine human being. He represented what makes human existence meaningful. A True Friend. My Mentor. Jack Larabee
