Obituary for George Cavell Coupland

George Cavell  Coupland
Died peacefully on Friday October 21, 2016 at Extendicare Timmins, with his family by his side, at the age of 99 years. Husband of the late Edith (2000). Father of Dale (Teresa) Coupland of Toronto, Peter (Margaret) Coupland of Coboconk, ON and Evelyn (Richard) Glazier of Timmins. Survived by his grandchildren Rodney (Sharon) Coupland, Connie (Jeff) Tanner, Bryan (Amanda) Coupland, David Glazier (Daphne) and Pamela (Colin) Durdon; his great-grandchildren Spencer, Morgan, Abby, Grady, Rylee, Logan, Emily, Ethan, Daniel and Benjamin and by his two sisters Viola of California and Betty of Norwood, ON. Predeceased by his parents George and Elizabeth Coupland, his sister Rose (Ron) Smith, and his brothers James and Joseph Coupland. George was a mining engineer and worked in Asbestos, QC and at Kidd Creek Mine as a pit supervisor, then on special projects until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of Legion Branch 88 serving as president, public speaker at schools and selling poppies. He curled until he was 92 years old. He enjoyed spending summers at his cottage at Head Lake, fishing in the summer, hunting in the fall. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-9 pm at the LESSARD-STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME. Remembrance donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88 – Poppy Fund or the Timmins Food Bank would be greatly appreciated.
