Obituary for Adelia Carolina Kos

KOS, Adelia Carolina (nee Pellizzari), L. Mus.


Born February 3, 1926 in Timmins, Ontario and died May 5, 2018 at the Timmins and District Hospital. She was 92 years old.

Beloved wife of Fifty-five years to Wiktor Emil Kos.

Loving mother of son: Dr. Antonio Ignacy Kos (spouse: Jocelyne Webb), twin daughters: Vittoria Kos-Chaumont (husband: Raymond) and Regina Kos.

Dear grandmother of Alexander, Antony and Nicholas Kos.

Pre-deceased by: Her Father Antonio Ferdinando Pellizzari, her Mother Regina Catarina Gazzola Pellizzari and her Brother Dr. Mario Louis Pellizzari (St-Clairsville, Ohio).

In her working years Adelia was a Music, Italian and Typing Teacher in both the school systems from Porcupine to Foleyet and also taught privately. She was active as a Music Teacher in the Porcupine Music Festival.

She was the Mayor’s secretary at one time for Mr. Brunet for the City of Timmins.

Adelia loved spending time with her family and with her husband Wiktor devoted their lives to their children. She loved gardening at the farm and the outdoors. She loved participating in the Porcupine Fall Fair. Enjoyed attending the Retired Teachers Luncheons. She enjoyed visiting garage sales on the weekends and getting her hair done at

College Boreal. She was the first Canadian to Graduate from Il Conservatorio Nationale Santa Cecilia Roma, Italia and did post graduate work in Sienna. She sang for the Pope on Vatican Radio and the Mother Queen of Belgium.

Special thanks to Drs. Harry Voogjarv, Malvinder Parmar, Savita Kalra, Amos Hercz, Karin Shetty, Barry Singleton, Andrew Touw, Paul Shulte, Robert Loeb, Milan Barbosa, Marie-Claire Levac, Larry Malo and all the other physicians who gave excellent care to our mother. We are very grateful to all the nurses, respiratory therapists, dietitians,

physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists and support staff that helped our mother through many difficult times and this will never be forgotten. We are eternally grateful to have such an excellent hospital facility and staff.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Timmins and District Hospital, 700 Ross Avenue East, Timmins, Ontario P4N 8P2.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 7-9 P M and Friday, May 11, 2018 from 2-4 P M at Lessard Stephens Funeral Home 21 Elm Street South Timmins, Ontario P4N 1W4, (705) 268-4488.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:30 A M at Sacred Heart Church, 296 Cedar St. South, Timmins, ON P4N 2H3. Internment will follow at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery on Pine Street South Timmins, Ontario.

A celebration of her life reception will begin shortly after at 12 Noon at the Hollinger Golf Club Dining Room/Bar, 555 Moneta Street, Timmins, Ontario P4N 7W9(Follow the Erocon Road).
