The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of David Mavor can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for David Mavor

David Mavor
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces his passing at home on Thursday January 18, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving family after a short, but courageous, battle with cancer at the age of 58. He is survived by his beloved wife Susanne (née Colbert) of 30 years. He is the loving father of Cheryl (Shawn), Andrew (Laura), Meaghan, Matthew (Samantha), and grandfather of Rebecca. He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Kassie. Survived by his parents George and Frances Mavor and brothers Ken (Donna) of Uxbridge and Jim (Theresa) of Huntsville. Loving brother-in-law of Peter J. Colbert, Judith Barkel (Mark), Jennifer Larose (Marc), and David Colbert (Karin). He leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Christopher Mavor, Kevin Mavor, Jessica and Christopher Barkel, Eric and Ryan Larose, and Lindsay and Sarah Colbert. David worked for 25 years at Mettler-Toledo Scale, and was affectionately known by many as ‘Toledo Dave’. As an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Timmins for 24 years, he ran the scale hut at the annual Kiwanis Walley Tournament at the Cache campground, managed Camp Katapao, and was known as ‘Scouter Dave’ for the 5th Timmins cub scouts. The family would like to thank the Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North’s Oncology department for the support provided, as well as Marnie Chisholm and Liz Feldman for making his final journey as comfortable as possible. Funeral service will be held at St. Matthews Cathedral on Monday January 22, 2018 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Timmins Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at
