Obituary for Inez MacGregor

It is with great sadness and regret that the family of Inez MacGregor announce her passing on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Timmins Extendicare facility. Inez was predeceased by her husband, Ronald MacGregor and her son, Mark. She is survived by her son, Darrell (Bernadette) and daughter Carla, (Colin Williamson) and daughter-in-law, Talma Pfeiffer-MacGregor (late Mark), grandchildren Bonnie (Steve) Lemieux, Graham (Natalie Lavigne) MacGregor, Allyson (Justin) Dufour, Jeffrey, Lauren and Ella Williamson and Ronnie MacGregor. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, Alexa, Logan, Owen, Amelia, Nolan, Connor, Mack and Freida, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Inez was born in Fort William to Italian immigrant parents, Ardemia and Luigi Fregonese, who then relocated to become lifelong residents of Schumacher. Inez was very involved in her community and St. Alphonsus Parish. For many years she played the organ and sang in the choir, helped with the St. Martin de Porres rummage sales, annual bazaars and St. Patrick’s Day suppers, served with the Catholic Women’s League and supported Fr. Les Costello’s requests whenever asked. She was a faithful Catholic and a wonderful role model. She had a kind and friendly personality and was supportive of her family and really shone as “Noni”, a very caring, kind, nurturing and loving woman. She enjoyed music and supported and volunteered at the Porcupine Music Festival, with the Timmins Youth Singers and led the INTERLINK program, a program linking senior citizens with primary students in the school system. She was pleased to see her three children take careers as educators and followed their professional and musical pursuits with much interest.
Sincere thanks are extended to the staff of the Georgian Residence, Timmins Extendicare and the Timmins District Hospital for their care and compassion during these last few years. In lieu of flowers, should you wish to do so, the family requests donations be made to the Schumacher Lions McIntyre Park Rejuvenation Project, SACHA (Schumacher Arts Culture and Heritage Association), the Schumacher Croatian Hall or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Nov. 5 from 6 - 9 at the Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home. A mass to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, November 6 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Cathedral, followed by a reception at the Schumacher Lions Club.
