Obituary for
Melvin Southcott
The family announces with sorrow the passing of Melvin Southcott on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the age of 78 years.
Melvin is predeceased by his wife Charlotte (Tootsie), granddaughter Adrianna Camirand, parents Archibald and Winnifred Southcott, and sister Patricia Reid.
He is survived by his children Trevor Southcott (Carole), Colleen Lionello (Mark) and Brenda Camirand (Daniel). Devoted grandfather to Danielle, Elena, Gabriel and Layla. Melvin will also be deeply missed by his companion Joan Johnston. He is also survived by his twin sister Sandra Evans (Gord), his sister Irene Mitton (Harvey) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Melvin worked for thirty plus years in the warehouse at Kidd Creek Mines, met site.
His commitment to his family and love for sports were his hallmarks. He was an avid hockey and softball player in his younger years, and he could often be found cheering on his grandchildren on the ringette rink, soccer field and dance recitals in his later years.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 2, 2017 in the Lessard-Stephens Chapel. Friends and family may pay their respects Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 2 pm – 4pm and 7pm-9pm. Internment will follow at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery.
