Obituary for Talivaldis (Ted) Jurenovskis

Talivaldis (Ted) Jurenovskis
It’s with heavy hearts, but beautiful memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Talivaldis (Ted) Jurenovskis at the age of 92 on January 6th. His loving wife of 62 years Inara Janina Jurenovskis predeceased him. Loving father to Mara Karle (Rob) of Kenora, and Peter (Carole) of Timmins. Predeceased by his dear daughter Maija (Richard Maunu) of Sault Ste Marie. Loving grandfather to Olivia, Peter, Janna and Andrea. The family wishes to thank the many health professionals at the Extendicare Nursing home and St. Mary’s Gardens for making his last years comfortable and memorable.
Ted worked at Algoma Steel in Sault Ste Marie, ON in the Engineering department for 25 years and retired to the Hamilton area where he and mom rekindled many friendships from their younger years in Latvia. Both worked and supported a camping lifestyle at Sidrebene, a Lativian Church Camp where they enjoyed their cottage for many years. Dad was a fraternal member of the Lidums Society and a supporter of the Hamilton Latvian Senior Centre. Dad sang in various choirs and had a love of music. A few years back, he had to quit singing. While at Extendicare he rediscovered his love of music as he joined the ART music group.
A brief chapel service will be held at the Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home on Wednesday January 11 at 11am. A celebration of his life will be held afterwards at Peter and Carole’s house (367 Bonaventure Drive). All friends and family are invited.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectively requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Timmins or the Hamilton Latvian Pensioners Society, 16 Queen St. No. Hamilton, ON L8R 2T8.
Interment for both mom and dad will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie in the summer. They will be laid to rest beside their loving daughter Maija and our grandmother Ida.
