Obituary for John Matthew
Passed away at home on Friday, October 14, 2016, at the age of 85.
He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Patricia (Beattie); his children Tracey, Blake (late Diane), Robert and Scott (Dianne); his grandchildren Dean, Jamie, Alex, Amy, Ben and his great grandchild Gia; his sister Sheila Kennedy and brother David (Louise) as well as numerous other family members and life-long friends.
Jack was born August 20, 1931, in Schumacher, Ontario to Gladys and John (Jock) Matthew. He was a proud resident until he attended and graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto. He then worked as a mechanical draftsman at the McIntyre Mine, Abitibi and Kidd Creek until his retirement in 1989.
In the early years of his retirement, Jack enjoyed walking his neighborhood for hours each day, then joining his friends at the Tim Hortons where he loved to socialize. Jack was a kind soul who shared a warm smile and hello with everyone he met and he will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at 11 am, at the Covenant United Church with Rev Cindy Désilets officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 18 from 7-9 pm at Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home.
