Obituary for Lorraine Saudino

The family wishes to announce with great sorrow the passing of their beloved sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Lorraine Saudino on Saturday September 10, 2016 at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 63 years. She was at the center of their lives and she will be deeply missed. Lorraine is the daughter of the late Albino & Lucille (Lacroix), sister of late Ronald (late Lucille), (children Angele (Paul), Pierrette (Luc), and Daniel (Nyree); sister of Diane (Guy Cantin), (children Denis (Sandy), Nicole (Bruno), and Marc-André (Tammy); sister to Helen (Norm Roy), (children Marc (Tammy) and Karen (Yves); sister to Lawrence (Myrelle) and (late Cecile), (children Kenneth (Sharon), Shelley-Anne, Marie-Josee (Christian ) and Krystian (Caitlyn); sister to Estelle (Garnet Leavoy), (children Roger (Natasha) and Richard (Melissa). She is also survived by many great nieces and great nephews, cousins and friends. Lorraine was one of the most caring, giving, compassionate, selfless and loving person you could ever have the honour to meet. If you live in Timmins, you may know her as the woman who walked everywhere. Lorraine never married, living with her parents and then taking care of her mother after her father died in 1982. She was “the” aunt who spoiled every niece, nephew, great niece and great nephew. She was the one who took them on special trips whereby everyone got a chance to have a turn on Tante Lorraine’s adventures. You longed to be chosen for these special adventures.
Lorraine was also a great listener and for the younger nieces and nephews, she became a great friend. She was always there, the one you would turn to for advice, support and inspiration.
She was at the centre of so many of our family gatherings, encouraging us to spend as much time together, and then capturing the moments behind the camera. She did not want to be in the spotlight. She was the one to capture the memories we were living on countless hours of video tape and photographs.
Lorraine donated much of her time to the causes and people that meant so much to her: the Lord’s Kitchen, Extend-a-Family, the Terry Fox Run; the Canadian Cancer Society, and VCARS. She was also a long-time blood donor.
Lorraine, on behalf of us all, thank you for all you have done for us, and for many. May you find yourself wrapped in love in Heaven, as we continue to honour you, with love and gratitude, as we will forever miss you. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 14, 2016 at 10:30 am at St-Joseph Church with Fr. Simon Drapeau officiating. Interment will follow at Timmins Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm at LESSARD-STEPHENS FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation; the Porcupine Food Bank or the Good Samaritan Inn would be greatly appreciated
