Obituary for Aimie Kleven (Smyth)

Aimie  Kleven (Smyth)
The family announces with sorrow her death on Saturday, December 7th, 2013 at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 98. Predeceased by husband, Helge, her parents, Winnifred and Roy Smyth, her sisters Irene Wagg, Doris Wagg and Adeline Hazzard, her brothers Harry, Walter and Ford. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Donnabelle Smyth, Marion Smyth, Molly Kleven and Nellie Kleven, many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and good friends. Born in Silver Water, Manitoulin Island, Aimie still has a cottage there. After attending Toronto Teachers` College and teaching in several places, she taught for 17 years with the Timmins Board of Education. She was a 50 year member, Past Noble Grand and Past District Deputy President of Gold Nugget Rebekah Lodge. She had been awarded the Degree of Chivalry from the Rebekah Assembly of Ontario. Aimie was a 50 year and life member of Arbutus Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a life member of the United Church Women at Covenant United Church. Her gift of playing the piano beautifully was shared with many people. For over 15 years, she played for the Thursday worship service at Georgian Residence. In lieu of flowers, donations to Covenant United Church, the Cancer Society or the Timmins and District Hospital will be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
The funeral service will be Thursday, December 12th, 2013 at 11 am at Covenant United Church, Rev. Cindy Désilets officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 11th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home
