The family announces with sorrow her death on Friday February 12, 2010 at the Timmins and District Hospital. Loving mother of Eric and his wife Yvonne. Dear grandmother of Charlene (Adam) and Matti. She is survived by her sister Maire Grikis and her family. Predeceased by her husband Antti, her daughter Eva Lainson, her parents Alina and Rikhard Harjunpaa and her brother Jussi. Maria had been an active member in the St. Mark’s Finnish Church in Timmins and later St. John’s Finnish Church in South Porcupine. She leaves behind many friends at Kulta Koti and also many friends and relatives in Timmins, Sudbury, Finland and the United States.
Funeral service will be held on Monday February 15, 2010 at 12 pm. Interment will be held at Timmins Memorial Cemetery. Remembrance donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Kulta Koti will be greatly appreciated.
